RE: [IPp] Re: automatic bolus at lunch

This is actually something that one of the doctors from the Barbara
Davis Center suggested doing for non-compliant teens. I wouldn't do
it with my 6 year old, but you can be pretty sure a teen boy is going
to eat his lunch.

Besides, what's the difference between a prescribed basal rise that
accounts for food and NPH?

Um, when I read the post below (re: setting up a basal to
automatically
bolus at lunch) my first (printable) thought was "unclear on the
concept...". My husband's thought was "that's playing with fire". We

are sitting here thinking about it and in our utter shock most of our
thoughts are unprintable. Would not recommend this to anyone, nope,
no
way, no how. Our daughter has never been one to eat a prescribed
amount of food at a sitting; if we did this with her we would surely
have dangerous lows and very nasty highs quite frequently. We may
have
been very lucky in having found day cares that were willing to weigh
the food before and after she ate, to calculate the carbs consumed at
each sitting. We have to give them credit for contributing to our
safety record; in 3 years since diagnosis we have never had to call
911
and have never used glucagon.
