[IP] Insurance and supply costs
I switched insurance companies this year. I went to order my pump
supplies from Animas and the insur.co. said, "not on our list," so
they gave me a couple of other suppliers. I wasn't sure what to
expect but before I knew it the supplier I called said "they were
shipping"---great! When I opened the shipping box there was a page
inside listing my order and the pricing, and a "THIS IS NOT A BILL"
statement. Was this same page going to my insurance co. to pay???
The items were THREE TIMES the price I could buy them from Animas,
over the web. So, this paper represents an astronomical amount of
money---yup, thousands! I called the insur. co. to see what they
knew---were they actually going to pay this or is there a "special"
price they pay? They didn't have the paperwork yet so instead I had
a long conversation with a charming fellow and we both agreed it
sounded frighteningly expensive. He decided he would send it on to
their investigation dept. I don't need to use any of this stuff just
yet but I really don't want to touch it until I find out who is
paying what! My co-pay was tiny in comparison but I certainly don't
want to suddenly be sent a bill as a surprise. The insur. co. fellow
said that I probably wouldn't be called with the result so I'm not
sure where that leaves me. I'm thinking I need to call someone again
at some point. Who would you call and how soon?
