Re: [IP] Low Blood Sugars

I have been a T1 diabetic for 54 years, on a pump for 10 with tight control and
have suffered no complications yet. Yeah!! However, for some time I've suffered
lows in the night - especially around 5AM. I suspected that my night time basals
needed adjustment, but was too lazy to do the testing every 90 minutes
throughout the night to figure out just what was happening. I just made sure my
BG was about 140 going to bed and that guaranteed I would wake up at about 90 -
110.
Then I started CGMS - what an amazing technology!!! By running Daily Summary
and Daily Sensor Overlay reports, I could see that my BG began to plummet at
4AM. After two successive nights with this pattern, I changed the 4AM basal from
.75 to .70. That definitely helped; the plummet turned into a gradual decline,
so today I further lowered the 4AM basal to .65. I will continue to monitor this
until I get it right.
I recommend CGMS to everyone!

Figured out that if my daughter ate late (8-9) and went to bed within
about 3 hours, she would have alow at around 2. Guess the food sits
around and does not digest when sleeping. If she ate earlier, no
low.
