[IP] pain in ankle

I have just now reactivated my account after a few years absence. I've retired
from my office job, and now have more time to check out the information on
insulin pumpers list serve.

I have lots of trouble with neuropathy in my feet. My left foot and ankle swell
considerably, and I take medication for the swelling. Sometimes it helps more
than othrs.

Just recently, I have been waking up with severe pain in my left ankle. I can
barely walk for the first 15 minutes or so, then the pain subsides and I can get
around fine, although I can still feel the pain. I haven't twisted it or injured
it as far as I can remember.

I'm nearly 60 and have had diabetes for 18 years. My blood sugars usually run
in the high 6's but I take a lot of insulin to keep them there. Bolus rates are
1 unit per 5 carb grams during the day, and 1 unit for 3 carbs during the
evening. I'm also on 3.2 to 3.5 units basal per hour. Obviously I'm very insulin
resistant, as well as not producing any of my own. I'm still referred to as T2,
but wondering if I'm not T1.

Has anyone else experienced anything similar to the pain I described? I don't
see my Doctor again until April. If it's anything serious, I could get in and
see her sooner. Looking for some advice and/or suggestions if possible.

Thanks!

From,Joyce McVay
